My disclaimer for this post: I love Disney World. Always have, always will. It’s part of my family. And like any part of my family, I’m allowed to vent or say something against decisions it makes. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t defend it to anyone else that talked smack.
There have been changes in Disney World history that make me think: Why didn’t Disney ask my opinion on this?
One of the many things I would have liked to been asked about was changing Journey Into Imagination. Figment and the ride have been talked about in previous blogs and I know I’m not the only one who wishes it never changed. Today’s post on the Disney Parks blog, with vintage photos, brought this back to memory.
“From head to tail, he’s royal purple pigment, and there, voila, you’ve got a Figment.”
Figment represented a bright, fun-filled, joyful Disney ride in Epcot. In my younger days, I would say it was the best kid attraction at Epcot. Then one day around 1999, Dreamfinder and Figment disappeared from the ride. It was a sad day and remained that way for a few years. Disney received so many complaints that they made adjustments to the ride; but it still didn’t have the same feel as the original Journey Into Imagination.
I’m sure Disney has focus groups, and maybe I need to look into some when it comes to changes to the parks. Journey Into Imagination is not the only thing I wish I had an opinion on…but we can talk about that later.
And now, here I am hanging out with Figment and the Dreamfinder:
